As per the Florida Department of Transportation, all Department employees, contractors, consultants, surveyors, utility company personnel, local maintenance agency, or any other relevant individual responsible for work zone traffic control planning, design, implementation, inspection, and/or supervising the selection, placement, or maintenance of traffic control schemes and devices in work zones on the State Highway System right of way must satisfactorily complete MOT training.
The course spans 20 hours and is mandatory for personnel with the responsibility or authority to determine the specific Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) requirements for implementation in Florida. These roles encompass:
- The engineer accountable for Work Zone traffic control plan development (TCP)
- The Work Zone traffic control supervisor
This course targets individuals actively engaged in designing temporary traffic control within a work zone. Participants gain proficiency in reading and interpreting plans and specifications and in implementing them in the field. Additionally, they learn how to design and execute temporary traffic control plans to maximize safety for coworkers, motorists, and pedestrians.
